Thank you for making 2009 another wonderful year for Vision Outreach International. Through your generous donations we were able to continue our mission of providing compassionate care and the love of Jesus Christ to the blind poor of the world. With successful outreaches to Bulgaria, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and 2 trips to Honduras along with our continued support of long term clinics in Borneo, Zambia, Paraguay, and Honduras we were able to touch countless lives. Our goals for 2010 are just as aggressive with emphasis on training additional physicians and technicians as team leaders. We're currently subsidizing the training of a Nicaraguan ophthalmologist by our friends in Paraguay in order to better serve the poor population of Nicaragua. By planting seeds like this we're praying God will provide a bountiful harvest to better serve those most in need.

Vision Outreach is evaluating a strategic partnership  with Dr. Udo Duerksen (Especialista en Cornea y Cirugia Refractiva), of Encarnacion, Paraguay, to launch a cataract surgery training center and vision clinic in Granada, Nicaragua.  After meetings with The Ministry of Health and the officials at Amistad Hospital in Granada, Vision Outreach has been offered 3,000 sq. ft. of dedicated training and clinic space at the hospital.  VOI will have access to the operating rooms and the surgical equipment in order to make comprehensive eye care management training a reality.  Stay tuned and say a prayer.

Dr. Duerksen has prepared course outlines for the doctor that will attend his training methodology. Click here for the course of study outline.

Dr. Diego Meija and his wife Patricia have opened their own clinic in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  Dr. Diego will operate his clinic to give the gift of sight to all of those in need in and around his community.  Dr. Diego, in partnership with Vision Outreach, also conducts SLICS training programs for the eye-care professional that is interested in a short term training experience.  Click here for an invitation to a four day experience and instruction in Sutureless Large Incision Catact Surgery --- and enjoy a beautiful part of the world at the same time.

Vision Outreach International is now partnered with Mission Eyes (http://www.missioneyes.net).  This will give VOI the ability to identify and train many new Opthamologists in the SLICS for mission work.
